CESSNA CITATION C525 TYPE RATING

The Citation C525 type rating gives you privileges to fly in single-pilot (SPO) or multi-pilot (MPO) operations from the straight CJ to the CJ4.

Initial C525 Type Rating (MPO)

Multi-pilot operations

The initial type rating course, multi-pilot (MPO), allows to acquire the theoretical and practical knowledge required to pass the skill test for the C525 type rating. A multi-pilot type rating is required to fly in commercial air transport (CAT) or in private operations when multi-pilot is required by the Part-NCC manual.
It is composed of the following modules:

Ground training
41 hours of ground training
2 hours avionics training

Practical training
8 simulator sessions of 4 hours (32 hours total)
Of which 16 hours as pilot flying and 16 hours as pilot monitoring

Skill test
4 hours on simulator

Base training (optional)
90 minutes flight on CJ1+
  • EASA PPL(A), CPL(A), ATPL(A)
  • ATPL(A) theory or HPA (High Performance Aircraft) course
  • A valid IR/ME
  • A valid medical certificate
  • Total time: Minimum 200 hours (min 70 hours PIC)

Initial C525 Type Rating (SPO)

Single pilot operations

The initial type rating course, single-pilot (SPO), allows to acquire the theoretical and practical knowledge required to pass the skill test for the C525 type rating. A single-pilot type rating allows its holder to act as pilot in command in private operations only under Part-NCC. Flying as a crew composed of 2 pilots requires the addition of an MPO rating.

It is composed of the following modules:

Ground training
41 hours of ground training
2 hours avionics training

Practical training
4 simulator sessions of 4 hours (16 hours total)

Skill test
4 hours on simulator

Base training (optional)
90 minutes flight on CJ1+

Recurrent Training C525

Revalidation | Renewal | LPC | OPC

Recurrent training is required to maintain your type rating valid or to re-enable your type rating after its expiry (no longer than 3 years).

License proficiency check (LPC)
It is required to re-validate your type rating before its expiry.
It is composed of a ground refresher training and one simulator test of 4 hours in multi-pilot operations (2 as PF and 2 as PNF).
It is composed of a ground refresher training and one simulator test of 2 hours in single-pilot operations.
It must be conducted by a Type Rating Examiner (TRE) or a Synthetic Flight Examiner (SFE).
Valid for 1 year.

Operator proficiency check (OPC)
It is an assessment required to check the ability of the holder to follow company (operator) procedures.
It is composed of a ground refresher training and one simulator test of 2 hours.
It must be conducted by a Type Rating Examiner (TRE) or a Synthetic Flight Examiner (SFE) under the approval of the AOC requiring the OPC.
Valid for 6 months.

In case your C525 type rating is expired within less than 3 years.

TRI(SPA) C525

Type rating instructor

The privileges of a TRI(SPA) C525 are to instruct for:

  • The revalidation and renewal of an IR, provided the TRI holds a valid IR
  • The issue of a TRI(SPA) C525 or SFI certificate, provided that the holder has 3 years of experience as a TRI(SPA)
  • The issue, revalidation and renewal of a C525 type rating in SPO or MPO provided the TRI(SPA) holds a MCCI or has held a TRI for multi-pilot aeroplanes.
It is composed of the following modules:

Ground training
30 hours of ground training in teaching and learning (waived if candidate held any flight instructor rating)
13 hours of ground training on C525

Practical training
10 hours of simulator training
1 hour of flight training

Assessment of competences
2 hours on simulator
  • EASA CPL(A), MPL(A), ATPL(A)
  • A valid C525 type rating
  • Hold 500 hours as a pilot of airplanes of which 30 as PIC
  • A valid medical certificate
  • Total time: Minimum 500 hours (min 70 hours PIC)

TRE(SPA)

Type rating examiner

This course is intended to provide the necessary knowledge to become a type rating examiner, in order to conduct:

  • Skill tests for the initial issue of type ratings for aeroplanes
  • Proficiency checks for revalidation or renewal of type ratings and IRs
  • Assessments of competence for the issue, revalidation or renewal of a TRI/SFI certificate in the applicable category, provided the examiner has completed at least 3 years as a TRE
During the training, exam simulations in the form of practical work during briefings, debriefings, FSTD and flights sessions are carried out.
The training highlights the threat and error management and the CRM aspect in examination situations, as well as the Human Factor in the failure aspect.

The course is composed of the following modules:

Ground training
10 hours of ground training

Practical training
6 hours of simulator training
45 minutes of flight training
  • EASA CPL(A), ATPL(A)
  • A valid C525 type rating and TRI (SPO/MPO) rating
  • Have completed 500 hours of flight time as a pilot of single-pilot aeroplanes, of which at least 200 hours shall be as PIC
  • For the initial issue of an TRE certificate, have completed at least 50 hours of flight instruction as a TRI, FI or SFI in the applicable type or an FSTD representing that type
  • A valid medical certificate
Candidates for an examiner's authorization will have to demonstrate relevant knowledge and curriculum, as well as appropriate experience in relation to the privileges of an examiner and that they have not been subject to any sanctions in the last 3 years, including any suspension, limitation or withdrawal of any of their licences, qualifications or authorisations issued pursuant to this Part, or failure to comply with the basic rules and regulations
